Title: Ring Binder

This is a prototype design made for Folders Galore to test the viability of making an acrylic ring binder. Clear acrylic piano hinges were used to hinge 3 panels together and a standard binder mechanism was attached to the inside of the folder.

This is one of thousands of bins made for The Body Shop stores to display their products. It uses 4.5mm glass-tint acrylic.

 

Title: Straw Dispenser
Client: Burger King

This large-capacity straw dispenser was custom designed and manufactured for the Lower North Island Burger King Outlets. The brief was to provide a unit that could hold significantly more straws than the off-the-shelf version, and also be more tamper-resistant (i.e. stop people opening the lid and taking a handful of straws). It has an all plastic construction and with it’s clear front, staff can see when refilling is needed.

 

Title: Chocolate Bar Display

This display is made using 4.5mm clear acrylic sides; vacuum formed purple plastic for the trays and white screen-printed branding for the logo. The unit can be sent out as a small package and assemble on site using 8 plastic twist-screws.

This photo frame was designed to fit a standard photograph, with also a version produced for panoramic shots. It is made in 3mm clear acrylic.

This client came to us with an illustration they wished to copy. The brochure rack was resized to fit the intended booklet and black acrylic was used for the body, with clear acrylic used for the shelves.

 

Title: Diceman Counter Stand

This interesting project went through a number of earlier prototypes until we arrived at this final design. The dice are dispensed at the bottom of the unit, with 4 stacks of dice housed in this rotating counter stand. Slightly opaque acrylic is used for the sides of the unit with clear acrylic for the rest of the design, except for the base, which is polished black acrylic. A digitally printed decal is added at the end to brand the unit.

This injection-moulded donation box is a “standard”, off-the-shelf solution. They are very cost effective and if large enough quantities are required they can be provided with different coloured bases.

This brochure unit was designed especially for Dulux. It is made in 3mm clear acrylic with a 3-colour screen-printed logo.

 

 

Title: Efpos Counter Stands

These stands were designed to replace an older and more complex model. The new model is made with interchangeable trays, and designed to be quick to produce and therefore more cost effective. The version shown here are in clear acrylic and smokey grey acrylic.

This is a 4.5mm clear acrylic display case with a timber base in solid rimu. A custom shaped acrylic support holds the hat in an elevated position. A laser etched plaque provides details of the items history. The case is constructed from 5 pieces which are solvent welded together.

This is a 4.5mm glass-tint acrylic display case with a timber base in solid rimu. A fixed rimu support holds the ball in an elevated position. The case is constructed from 5 pieces which are solvent welded together.

 

Title: Brochure Stand – 12xDLE

This is a custom designed brochure rack, made in consultation with the motel owners throughout the Host Accommodation network. It is a counter stand with the option of wall mounting. The stand is made in 3mm clear acrylic, with a digitally printed decal applied to the top to provide branding.

In this design we were called upon to copy closely the Scott cabinet which can be seen further down the page. The main body of the cabinet is MDF, which is painted black. A 10mm clear acrylic top is used, with clear acrylic shelves and door. Mirrored acrylic is used for the back of the cabinet. A clear decal logo is applied to the front door of the unit.

This is an imported A4 brochure holder, which has been pad printed to add the branding details. Pad printing allows the branding of oddly shaped objects e.g. pens and small gifts – it has a size limitation (approx 50mm x 50mm) and is generally only 1 colour.

 

Title: Lotto Winners Information

This is a very complex unit which was distributed to each of the Lotto outlets nationwide. It has painted MDF in the base and top sign. A concealed Lazy Suzan ball race underneath to allow the unit to spin. Laser cut sheet metal is folded and powder coated to create the outside shell with screen printed decals applied to the outside metal panels. Screen printed acrylic is used inside, along with PVC and styrene to create sliding sleeves that allow the draw details to be changed out as needed.

This display case was made to fit a timber base the client already had. The case is made from a folded 4.5mm clear acrylic sheet with ends glued on and trimmed flush. All edges are flame polished to give a brilliant finish.

This is an unusual design which integrates a clock and brochure holder along with signage. The clear acrylic pocket was screen printed while flat and then folded up, as was the angled (L-shaped) backboard. Last of all a clock mechanism and hands were added (missing in this example). All branding is done with screen printing.

This counter unit is made with a solid block of 20mm clear acrylic, which is polished along the edges to a beautiful finish. “Sign Mount” spacers are used for the back support legs and to space the pockets off the board. Thinner clear acrylic is folded to create the pockets for the business card holders and the brochure holder. Computer cut vinyl lettering is used to brand the top of the stand.

This retail display item used 3mm fluorescent acrylic, it is intended to be double-sided taped to a retail shelf to draw attention to the Optrex eye drops. Given a little light – particularly behind the stand, fluorescent acrylic has a very strong colour on the edge, almost like an electric light is behind it.

This display case is an example of a folded clear acrylic case. The main body is folded from a single piece of acrylic and the sides are glued on and trimmed flush. In this case a 10mm clear acrylic base has been used, with stainless steel cabinet fixings holding the base inside the case.

These gift boxes are made in New Zealand and exported worldwide. They are made from a very thin flexible wood which can be heat stamped to provide branding for your product or occasion. The round case fits a wine bottle and the satchel is A4 size.

This was a tiny 1-off case made for a client who wished to give it as a gift for a golden wedding anniversary. Black polished acrylic is used for the base and clear acrylic for the case cover. The lift inside is also black acrylic with a small section of acrylic mirror on top.

This innovative design uses rimu on the 4 corners and for the base, with glass-tint acrylic shelves slotted in-between on 2 sides. The other 2 sides have polished sheet metal and acrylic is used on the top and bottom, with a sandblast vinyl applied. Under the base a concealed Lazy Suzan ball race allows the unit to spin.

In this design we based the Vuarnet Cabinet on (see further up the page). We were called upon to copy closely the Scott cabinet, as it is an imported cabinet. This case is designed to mount on the wall; it is a folded clear acrylic cover with glued ends which are trimmed flush. The back board is painted MDF and a custom designed support bracket is concealed behind the ball which can be seen underneath the ball elevating the ball within the case, giving it the effect of floating.

This postcard stand is completely acrylic with imported injection-moulded postcard pockets running down each side. A Lazy Suzan ball race underneath allows the unit to spin on the counter.

This unit is made with furniture grade plywood which is given a clear coat to bring out the natural beauty of the timber. A hinged leg allows the board to stand securely. The brochure pockets are made to fit DLE sized brochures and are designed without dividers. They are made in 4.5mm glass-tint acrylic with custom turned detail “nubs” at each end of the shelf. The St James logo and text is computer cut sign writing vinyl which is applied as the finishing touch.

This is a custom designed “Still Air” cabinet used by pharmacists and staff working in laboratories to allow measurements and procedures to be done without contamination from the surrounding area. The cabinet is made in 4.5mm clear acrylic with a fitted door, which is lifted off when the cabinet is in use.

This is an example of one of the many products developed for the first Telecom Business Directions rollout. The bright green coloured acrylic was not available in New Zealand so an order was placed with an acrylic manufacturer overseas to get an colour made to match the Telecom identity. This brochure holder has green acrylic on the back and clear acrylic on the front.

This name plate is an individualised desk item, with a digitally printed logo and computer cut vinyl text for the name. Every staff member at NZ Trade had these on their desks at one stage.

 

 

Title: Buzz Me

This display was to promote a very basic pager for children, which never took off as they were soon superseded by cheap cell phones. The unit is basically an A4 Lean Back Card Holder with a slot at the top to allow the printed insert to “burst out”. A small shelf at the front displayed the retail box.

 

 

Title: Wendy’s Ice-cream Holder

We were asked to design a better ice cream cone holder as the current units Wendy’s was using kept breaking. Using 3mm PET-G material, which is virtually unbreakable we built the new design around the same dimensions as the old design. Since then very few units have failed, and only need replacing once the unit becomes too untidy to use.

 

 

Title: Whittaker’s Sante Bar Bin

Made in 6mm clear acrylic, this bin went into hundreds of cafes and retail outlets. The branding was done using screen printing with a gold ink to closely match the Whittaker’s identity.
